About Us
Understanding our mission and purpose
The Yellow Media Trust is a not-for-profit organisation which is supported by the Laura Kinsella Foundation, and works closely with the Press Justice Project, both registered charities.
Our aim is to negotiate a 'Good Friday'-style peace agreement, between the press reform movement and Britain's popular newspapers.
There's been a cold war between both sides for over 40 years, and a hot one since the phone hacking scandal in 2011. The clash has been characterised by mistrust, hostility, and at times, a determination to destroy each other.
The battlegrounds have been the courts, politics, regulation and long-running propaganda campaigns. The phone hacking litigation in the High Court has cost the industry between £1.2 billion and £3 billion. The result? Neither side is happy.
Our Purpose
The Yellow Media Trust aims to bring both sides together and foster closer cooperation in a bid to improve press standards altogether.
